In 2018, Lake Highland Football will have two levels within the program to accommodate our rising 9th-12th grade players. Varsity level will include 9th through 12th grade students and our sub-varsity program, called Junior High, will include 7th through 9th graders. Due to current participation numbers, we are unable to field three levels, but we want to make sure our rising 9th graders, with varying ability levels, have two different options to be a part of. Rising 9th graders will practice with Upper School students in the spring to determine the appropriate level for the fall. Players ready for Varsity can be promoted and players who need continued development can play Junior High football. The goal is to retain all rising 9th grade players in our football program which may allow a growth in numbers to sustain a junior varsity program in the future.  For rising 6th or 7th graders who need more time to learn and develop, we can schedule 5th quarters with opponents if needed. Currently, we have several private schools who have agreed to join us in this shift to Junior High football. We feel this is the best option for player safety, development of younger players, and building of a competitive football program. For the benefit and safety of our players, our techniques, equipment, technology, and practice plans are the leading edge of football. Go Highlanders!!

The Highlander football program is focused building the leaders of tomorrow while competing in everything we do from the classroom to the field. We relentlessly pursue excellence on a daily basis and believe that the process is greater than the result.

Our young men are willing to work hard, whether through off-season workouts in January, preparing for exams in November, long practices in August, or under the lights on Friday nights in the fall. Lake Highland Football is about excellence in all endeavors and building selfless, tough, and resilient student athletes who reject passivity, lead courageously under adverse conditions, and humbly serve others.

We believe in putting our brothers before ourselves---sacrificing personal comfort for the good of the team ---and pushing each other to compete beyond our perceived potential. This mind-set and attitude is rooted in our LHPS mission statement and enduring leadership principles. We love the sport, yet we truly believe it is a means to a greater purpose - developing strong leaders.
